on the lower slopes. Eventually we found an alternate trailhead behind a beautiful old château which is still occupied. Cows were grazing on the green grass of the property as we strolled by. France is so incredibly French! The incline of the slope at first was steep enough to make it tough going in places – but overall it was pretty easy. We ended up in a picturesque alpine village which was nestled between the two peaks of the Grand Salève and the Petit Salève. We sipped on espresso and had a small picnic of cheese, dried meat and cheese. Eventually we made our decent via a more direct route through the trees and to the border. Overall, a pretty nice way to spend a Sunday. Geneva seems to have some nice perks...as long as you can avoid having to buy anything!A.
